1. Since its inception in 2000, the Strand Center for the Arts has offered visitors a chance to embrace their creative side with events, classes, exhibits and more. The Arts Center’s next door neighbor, The Strand Theatre, is a cushy movie palace dripping with the grandeur of days-gone-by. With ambience similar to the Broadway experience, visitors can enjoy films, music and live entertainment along with a variety of productions.

MacDonough MonumentMacDonough Park, Plattsburgh, NY 129018 Minute WalkOverlooking Plattsburgh Bay where the Battle was fought, this 135-ft. monument was built in 1926 to honor Commodore Macdonough's victory over the British fleet. The four sides of the monument represent the ships of his fleet: Saratoga, Ticonderoga, Preble and Eagle. On special occasions visitors can climb 156 steps up the monument, whose interior walls have six interpretive panels, to the top where they will enjoy a 360-degree view of the battle grounds and surrounding countryside.

7. Saranac River TrailEnd of Caroline Street, Plattsburgh, NY 1290110 Minute WalkHere visitors will find one end of the Saranac River Trail. The Saranac River Trail follows a newly created path along the Saranac River, which flows into Lake Champlain. The trail offers visitors the perfect place to cycle, run, fish, kayak, canoe and more during the summer, while it allows for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during the winter.   
8. Plattsburgh City Hall41 City Hall Place, Plattsburgh, NY 129018 Minute WalkAt City Hall visitors can view the Confiance Anchor from the War of 1812. During the initial minutes of the two hour naval ordeal of the Battle of Plattsburgh, the anchor of the British flagship Confiance was shot away from its rail.  The anchor, marking the location of the engagement, was located by Plattsburgh divers Bill and Ken Van Stockum and raised in 1996. At 13 feet long, 8 feet across at the flukes, and 14 feet across its wooden stock, it is the largest anchor ever recovered from Lake Champlain.

Kent Delord House Museum17 Cumberland Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY 129019 Minute Walk Accross Bridge for the Adventurous, 12 Minute Main Street WalkThe Kent-Delord House was built in 1797 and was home to the Delord family between 1810 and 1913. Henry Delord was a merchant, a judge and a well-respected member of the early 19th century Plattsburgh community.  Before the Battle of Plattsburgh, Henry and his family fled the house, which was then occupied by British officers from an artillery corps.  Inside see a mess chest left behind by the British officers, portraits of Henry and Betsey Delord, a case clock and other furniture belonging to Henry, a silver tea service which the family claimed Betsey buried in the garden before the British arrived, and other furnishings from throughout the 19th century. The Kent-Delord House Museum gardens are also a stop on the International Peace Garden Trail.
